New Year. New Heart.

By Emily VanDyke

God, create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

New year, new me, right? The New Year often brings with it a sense of responsibility to a new set of goals. It is the perfect time to push ourselves. To think through priorities. To see where God wants to grow us.

As we navigate February – Month #2, regardless of any resolution you may or may not have, I encourage you, in light of this week’s celebration of Valentine’s Day, to add this simple prayer:

God, make my heart more like yours.

These simple, seven words have the ability to transform us. The goal is not to be Christ, but to be Christ-like. This prayer opens the door for the Spirit to begin this work in us.

With Valentine’s Day in the rearview mirror, keep the celebration going.

Post this prayer to keep handy and go face-to-face with Jesus.
