Safe Place

By Brenda Jank

Mary did what she needed to do.
She packed her bags, made an exit strategy, and left.
What do you NEED to do this Christmas?
Luke tells us that Mary took to the hills. She went where she felt welcomed and safe.
Jesus wants us to feel welcomed and safe.
Jesus CAME 2,000 years ago as counselor, mighty God, tender Father, master on a mission to give me His peace.
He COMES today as counselor, mighty God, and our tender Father on a mission of peace that makes no sense.
Where is your Safe Place?
Is it a place or is it a timeframe?
Where can you slip away and go face to face with the One who wants to shake, stir, and calm your heart?
Last week I was in Hebrews 13, but I took note that I had highlighted Hebrews 12:25, so I checked it out.

See to it that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking.

The noise of the world needs a voice to rise above it.
I am poised to listen?
Safe Places can open the door to ears that listen and a heart that receives.
My safe place is not simply about “getting away” – although there is merit in this alone – to slip away and breathe!
My safe place is also about “going to” God to see what He has to say to my soul.
What and when will be your Safe Place from now until the New Year?
Whether you hunger for quiet or connection, allow God to enter in and see what He has to say.

I will stand at my guard post
and station myself on the lookout tower.
I will watch to see what He will say to me …
Habakkuk 2:1

If you are inclined, multiply the gift by writing down the words, phrases, and verses that leap right off the page at you. These are hand-held, hand-wrapped gifts from His heart to yours.

This Christmas, let’s follow Mary’s lead and do what we NEED to do.
