The Wonderous Cross… and Tomb

One day I saw a colleague wearing an interesting necklace. It was a wooden arch with a small pebble on the bottom left of the arch. I asked him about it and he shared that it was the empty tomb.

WOW! How beautiful!?

I’ve never seen someone wear the empty tomb, it was such a great reminder of the resurrection. It made me reflect on how needed and important both symbols are to our Christian faith.

The cross and the empty tomb are two powerful symbols that represent: sin, forgiveness, love, humility, hope, and peace.

The crucifixion of Christ was a brutal death, at times it can be hard to even comprehend Christ went through such a violent death. But if we didn’t reflect on what happened on the cross, we wouldn’t be able to appreciate what it cost to free us from sin.

When Christ rose from the grave, He defeated both sin and death. This was the most amazing miracle. The empty tomb reminds us not to stay locked in guilt, shame and grief over the crucifixion.

Let us hold space and appreciation for both the cross and empty tomb as we rejoice over the resurrection.

He is Risen!
He is Risen indeed!
Alleluia!
